The International Motorcycle Show 2006

MANYS - Continuing to Promote Safety

The 25th Annual International Motorcycle show was held from January 20th through January 22nd in New York City at the Javits Convention Center. The annual event drew in multitudes of motorcycle hungry enthusiasts. The crowds enjoyed viewing, touching and sitting on hundreds of different motorcycles from various manufactures. Beside the motorcycles and the talkative vendors that were there to sell leathers, sunglasses, batteries, videos, and other gadgets, there were motorcycle schools and other organizations, each promoting community and motorcycle awareness. Among the many vendors was MANYS, continuing to spread its message of "Safety through Education."

Throughout the three days of the show, MANYS had an information booth set up to further inform the public about the state-wide motorcycle safety program. MANYS employees and volunteer RiderCoaches from across the state discussed riding techniques, safety issues and the New York State Motorcycle Training Program with hundreds of future and current riders. MANYS handed out over 1,000 pieces of information about the state-wide training program along with various free gifts that included key chains, pencils, writing tablets and temporary tattoos!

The MANYS staff and RiderCoaches performed extraordinarily and endured the long hours with ease. This is due in part to excellent teamwork and superior leadership which MANYS embraces. They all did what was required of them, successfully portraying MANYS and the NY State Motorcycle Safety Programs' professional image to the public. Due to this, MANYS was effectively able to communicate our motto 'Safety through Education", and has been contacted by other venues to showcase the program and to keep on spreading the word. We hope that by continuing to do this, we can increase motorcycle awareness and safety on the road.

MANYS extends its thanks to all who helped with making the display a success. We also would like to thank the public for attending and showing a keen interest in motorcycle safety. We hope that you will join us again next year. Thanks!
